Dr. Yolanda Banks Anderson serves as Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Development and Resources at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) in Durham, NC. She returned to this position after serving as Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs from February, 2020 to June 30, 2021. Dr. Anderson joined the faculty of NCCU in 1996 as Director of the Environmental Science Program and Associate Professor of Environmental Science; she was promoted to Full Professor in 2010. She has also served as Chair of the Department of Environmental, Earth and Geospatial Sciences, Assistant Dean for Student Services, Interim Associate Dean and Interim Dean of the College of Science and Technology, and Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Development and Resources. Prior to joining NCCU, Dr. Anderson was Special Assistant to the Associate Director for Health at the National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory/Office of Research and Development/US Environmental Protection Agency in Research Triangle Park, NC and was also employed by Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals in Indianapolis, IN. Dr. Anderson earned her PhD degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, her Master of Science degree in Environmental Health Science from the Harvard School of Public Health, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Dr. Dwane Jones is the Dean of the University of the District of Columbia's College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES). He is a leader with over 20 years of combined experience in leadership, green infrastructure programs, research, urban design, environmental planning, and program management with government, academia, nonprofit and community-based agencies, and international governments and universities. Dwane uses design thinking to problem-solve, innovate, prototype, execute, and research human-centered challenges while using sustainability as a lens to address these problems. He was the Founder of the Low Impact Development Certification Program at North Carolina State University (which has become a national and international model for certification programs in green infrastructure). Dwane has led national and international innovation programs and most recently led the launch of a Ph.D. Program in Urban Leadership + Entrepreneurship to develop the next generation of innovative thinkers to address primarily urban issues. Dwane is an Executive Leadership Coach who also specializes in launching + scaling start-ups. He has degrees in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, and Evidence-Based Coaching.
Dr. Pamela Leggett-Robinson is the CEO and Executive Director for PLR Consulting in Atlanta, GA. PLR Consulting, a boutique Program Development and Evaluation firm, works with organizations and institutions that seek to address multi-faceted obstacles confronting both historically and presently marginalized groups in STEM environments as well as optimize current STEM programs through management and evaluation. Dr. Leggett-Robinson has more than 15 years of higher education experience which includes STEM academic and student success/support programming, strategic planning, data analytics, and program evaluation. As a PI, she has garnered funds in excess of $3 million dollars from both NIH and NSF for broadening participation in STEM Undergraduate Education and as an evaluator has worked on large projects with NSF, Google, and DOD. Her distinguished record of STEM programmatic success (at HBCUs and PWIs) is well documented in publications and presentations. Dr. Leggett-Robinson’s latest publication, the book “Overcoming Barriers for Women of Color in STEM” was released in June 2020 and she currently distributes a bi-monthly Overcoming Barriers Newsletter to Women of Color STEM faculty. Dr. Leggett-Robinson holds a Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from Georgia State University and is a Certified Associate of Project Management.
Dr. Harry Price has taught and conducted research at the university level since 1995. Harry received his BS in Biology and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago. As a postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, he carried out tropical disease research that focused on the development of drug resistance in the blood-borne parasite that causes African sleeping sickness in humans and related diseases in livestock. As a faculty member at Stetson University, Harry serves as program coordinator for the Biochemistry major offered by the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He has been recognized for teaching excellence receiving Stetson’s John Hague award (2011), Stetson’s William Hugh McEniry award (2013), and the American Chemical Society’s Outstanding Teacher at a Four-Year College award (2011). Harry values collaborating with faculty and participating in interdisciplinary research. He engages in outreach to K-12 teachers via science fairs, STEM events, assistance with grant writing, and providing direct consultation on the development and implementation of new learning experiences. Since 2016, Harry has been actively involved in the Project Kaleidoscope Stem Leadership Institute (PKAL-SLI); first as a participant and then as a faculty coach/mentor supporting the annual PKAL-SLI institute. In 2019, as part of a four-member coaching team, Harry worked with faculty from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) engaged in leadership training as part of the NSF-funded Center for the Advancement of STEM Leadership (CASL). As a result of these coaching experiences, Harry has received and provided training in organizational dynamics, strategic planning, conflict resolution, interpersonal dynamics, team building, mental health and wellness as it relates to work-life balance, and incorporation of equity, diversity and inclusion in teaching and leadership. Since June 2020, he has served as the faculty director for the Brown Center for Faculty Innovation and Excellence. In this role he is tasked with representing the Brown Center, leading faculty development initiatives, and collaborating with partners across Stetson University to create professional development opportunities for faculty and teaching staff. In his free-time Harry enjoys relaxing, working in his yard, listening to and playing music, cooking, and most of all, spending time with his wife and daughter.
Dr. Kamilah Marie Woodson is the former Associate Dean/ Director of Graduate Studies and the Department Chairperson, and Professor in the Howard University School of Education, Department of Human Development and Psycho-educational Studies, Counseling Psychology Ph.D. Program. Dr. Woodson has also been a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Howard University College of Medicine/Howard University Hospital, in the Howard University Division of Nursing and was the Director of the AGEP Program in the Howard University Graduate School. Additionally, Dr. Woodson served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Negro Education as the Book Review Editor for 7 years, has been the program evaluator on several NSF-Sponsored research projects, including the HU-ADVANCE IT grant. Dr. Woodson is a graduate of the California School of Professional Psychology, LA, where she received the Ph.D. & MA., degrees in Clinical Psychology and earned her Baccalaureate degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is currently working to earn a Doctorate Degree in Ministry from the Howard University School of Divinity. Dr. Woodson began her career conducting research on the impact of global colorism and furthered this agenda through the recent edited volume, “Colorism: Investigating a Global Phenomenon, with Implications for Research, Policy and Practice,” (2020) and through research as result of being a Fulbright-Hayes Fellow (Brazil, South America). Dr. Woodson came to Howard University Counseling Service as an Intern in the APA Accredited training program and has over 25 years of experience working with individuals, couples and groups. She has worked in the Howard University Faculty Practice Plan and maintains a small private practice in Maryland/Washington DC.
